BALSAMIC CARAMEL SAUCE

BALSAMIC CARAMEL SAUCE

Recipe Instructions:
LET’S PREPARE/INGREDIENTS
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 – 4 tablespoons Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Glaze

HERE’S HOW WE DO IT/METHOD
Step 1. In a saucepan set over medium-high heat, add the sugar, carefully pour in 1/4 cup cold water, being careful not to let it splash up on the sides of the pan. Do not touch the pan until the sugar has turned an amber hue, approximately 10 to 12 minutes. Once the sugar has begun to turn an amber colour hold the handle and swirl the pan until it is an evenly coloured light amber.

Step 2. When the caramel is ready, add in the warm cream. It will sputter up a lot at first and then calm down. Once it calms down whisk to combine and continue simmering the mixture until it is smooth, another 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, then whisk in the butter, and then the balsamic glaze to taste.

Serve warm over ice cream, apple pie, cheese cake, or your favorite dessert. Enjoy
